Craving Online Journals
I remember when I came across blogs for the first time over 25 years ago, folks were writing about their day-to-day life. In between their daily adventures, there would be incredible posts about useful things. Then I remember SEO started becoming a huge thing and blogs started to become big business. It’s at this point I noticed that blogs were becoming focused, specializing in specific topics.
And that’s not a bad thing!
It’s just that I find many blogs nowadays impersonal. After reading authors’ blog posts, I don’t really connect with the author. I end up reading the information I need and move on. But I also wonder, how their day went, what’s new in their life. Sure, I can follow them on Bluesky or Twitter (X), or some other social media platform. And I don’t think that’s the same.
Maybe I’m craving some piece of nostalgia that is a fallacy.
I think that’s one of the reasons why I redid my blog and it’s now more of a personal online journal.
I still have my paper journal for more private thoughts, but this blog now, hopefully, is my little corner where I can talk about whatever I want and share it with the world - even if no one is reading it.
